Sunday Morning Groups

January 3 - March 28

9:30 a.m.:

Significant God, Significant You, Significant Marriage with Dennis & Patricia Ackerson.  Room 3.  This class if for those couples who truly want an intimate marriage but, in spite of their efforts, just can't seem to experience what they are longing for.  So where fo we find acceptance and love?  What makes us feel important?  How come we always seem to stumble over our own toes when we want to deeply love our spouse?  This class is not about techniques but rather life-changing truth which can fill our empty places and leave us free to minister to one another.

The Theology of End-Times Movies with Karen Hill.  Room 2.  Why are “end times” movies so popular? How do Christians develop a world view on these movies when there is disagreement within our own community about exactly how things will end? Does it matter? Believer’s today are faced with two choices when it comes to man’s unquenchable desire to know the end of the story. First we must see this longing in the world as a perfect opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. All end times movies (and novels) are rich with Biblical sub-texts. The answer to “How will it all end?” is the point of the Bible. The Bible begins with the most incredible end time story ever written. In fact, the new movie “2012” is one of the greatest acts of plagiarism I have seen in a long time. Whether man wipes out himself, is destroyed by a natural disaster or succumbs to an inhuman invasion must be a valid question since all these scenarios are described in the first 9 chapters of Genesis. We must watch these movies and read these books with the goal of discerning and developing a gospel centered dialog for the world. If we keep the issue in house, fighting endlessly over minutia in the book of Revelation then we will settle for a second option and never hear the world begging us to share why we live in anticipation of a victorious end.

New Members Group with Jimmy Hill.  Room 1.  For those considering membership, this class is an essential part of the process. We will explore what it means to become a part of the community of believers known as “Wildwood”.  Please join Jimmy Hill, our Director of New Member Involvement, as he teaches this 6-week class.  (Begins February 14)

Prayer & Fasting with Rod & Dee Allen.  Room 4. In the busyness of daily life, do you hear those whispers calling you, drawing you to minister to the Lord? How often do you stop and evaluate yourself before the Lord? Why do you seek Him? What have you been praying for and need a supernatural break through?  This class will point you in the right direction. (Based on the book The Power of Prayer and Fasting, 10 Secrets of Spiritual Strength by Pastor Ronnie W. Floyd.)

Men’s Catalyst with Hal Schendel. Library.  A variety of sources will stimulate our thinking on what it means to put God first. This winter we’re studying Francis Chan’s book, “Forgotten God”.  As we discuss application to our lives, we will build authentic community

Relationships with Mike Zoda.  Choir Room.  Do you crave strong relationships? What prevents them from happening?  How do we get past the walls that divide us?  Come and   explore what the Bible stays about relationships.

Jesus with Todd Veleber.  Student Center Lounge.  Jesus Christ. No one is more well known.  No one is more loved and hated.  No one is more polarizing.  Roughly two-thousand years ago, Jesus was born in a dumpy, rural, hick town, not unlike those today where guys change their own oil, think pro-wrestling is real and eat a lot of Hot Pockets.  He was literally God in flesh and was born for a mission...to provide a bridge for created humanity to reconnect with their Creator.  Join us as we explore this person called Jesus and the impact He still has on the world today.  This class is open to high school students, college students and adults.

11:00 a.m.:

Hebrews with Fred Thomson.  Room 1.  A verse by verse study of the book of Hebrews with special emphasis on the practical applications to our daily walk with Christ.  The class is organized as something of a small group experience with time committed to community and relationship development.

Covenant Theology with Joyce Broeseker.  Room 2.  "I will be your God and you will be My People" A study to become familiar with God's promise of salvation beginning in Genesis through the fulfillment in Jesus.

Sermon Review with Tim Broeseker.  Room 3.  This class will be a discussion of the 9:30 Sermon, and it’s practical application to our lives.

Health with Dr. Ken Wasson.  Room 4. What is good health?  What is disease?  In this modern scientific age, does the Holy Spirit still provide healing?  What are the connections between faith, love, obedience and forgiveness?  Does the church, as a body of believers, have anything to do with your own health?  Join us as we discover how Jesus influences all of our life from politics, health, and business to the environment.

Good News with Don Rubottom/Steve Bradford.  Library.  We welcome all newcomers who desire a deeper understanding of God and his great good news.
