"Changing Africa One Book at a Time"

Jambo! and welcome to the African Book Project!

Since 2000, the African Book Project has been sending critically needed Christian books to pastors, churches, Bible colleges and para-church organizations in Africa. Lightly used Bibles, New Testaments, commentaries and study guides are gratefully received by the African church. And they are well read, over and over again!!

Time and again the project has heard thrilling and touching stories of pastors walking 20, 40, and even 60 kilometers to receive a Bible; of waiting for ten hours for a missionary to pass through a wide spot to pass out materials; and both young and old pastors pastoring immense congregations without needed resources.

Bible colleges often have only a handful of outdated books for the teachers and students to use. Students will either walk or bike for many miles and will pay their tuition ("Fees") in fresh produce. Some have been robbed or beaten like Paul of Acts on the way to school!

Yet Positive Change Is Happening:

  • In Malawi: Pastors are using materials they had never seen until recently and their congregations are receiving the benefit.
  • In Uganda: The western mountains of Uganda are lined with small trails where the book project books have been carried to local seminaries. The village of Base Camp, an old mining town, has benefitted from Biblical materials that have been sent.
  • In Kenya: This nation is returning successfully from the election violence of 2008 as people are hungry for the things of the Lord and the Bible.

Testimonies of Book Recipients:

"We will never be the same again. Churches come in and read the Bibles together. Teenagers read their own books and toddlers form reading circles to be read to. Thank you for such goodness." Rev. Daniel Moyo for the Ministry of Hope, Lilongwe, Malawi.

"I am made clever in the things of the Lord via the books the project has sent me."

Rev. Daniel Musiya, Lake Victoria, Kenya

"Our senior students look forward to your books which we spread out and allow them to choose for their own personal libraries. It's become a new tradition here at the African Bible College." Jay Stoms, Dean of Men, African Bible College,Malawi

Where Do You Want your Books to Go?

On a daily basis the book project collects and sends books to Africa. They enjoy reading and, yes, most can read in English. We are an IRS 501(c)3 recognized non-profit dedicated to strengthening the African church with materials that glorify the Lord.
