It is time to get dirty this summer!
This summer we are inviting you and your children to get your hands dirty in a different kind of dirt – service to our community. For this summer we are dropping some of our regular activities to add service opportunities. Every camp, event, or program this summer is designed to have the children begin to think beyond themselves and instead of how they as a part of this community can by demonstrating the love of Christ.
How will we do this? Instead of our traditional VBS we will have D.I.R.T. Days for children. This means we will not have a week-long VBS. D.I.R.T Days revolve around a service project and end with a fun activity back at the church.
Projects at Hawks Rise Elementary School
- Weeding & cleaning - June 29 & July 27, 9:00-12:00, 3rd-5th graders.
- Serving lunch during Teacher Workshops - TBD
Our Father’s Storehouse—Bagging groceries - June 15, 10:00-12:00, 1st-3rd graders.
Homeless Survival Bags—Put together care bags of essential items and resources for those in need in our area - June 22, 10:00-12:00, 3rd graders.
Seasons of Seniors—Fix and serve lunch to Wildwood Seniors and play games - June 25, 10:00am-1:30pm, 3rd-5th graders.
Puppy Washing—Help get our furry friends ready for adoption at the Leon County Humane Shelter - July 18, 10:00am-1:00pm, 4th-5th graders.
Law Enforcement Luncheon—Kids needed for cooks, servers and waiter to help provide lunch to our area Law Enforcement officers - TBD.
Feed a Fireman—Gather at the church and put together lunches and deliver them to a local Fire Station - TBD.
P.A.S.T. Day—Gather at the church and put together goody bags and then deliver Pastors and Staff Treats throughout the
Church Mice—Church work day with special kid-size projects - July 16, 10:00am-1:00pm, K-5th graders.
Bike-A-Thon for Women’s Pregnancy Center—Grab your bike and help raise support for this local ministry to women in crisis pregnancy - TBD.
Backyard Bible Clubs—Helpers will be needed to assist the teachers with the pre-schoolers.
Kids’ Playroom @ TMH—We will be holding a GIANT GARAGE SALE on Saturday, July 11th, with the proceeds benefiting TMH and others. Help needed July 6th - July 10th during the day for set-up.
